Butali bullish of their 2022 campaign, hopeful of a continental ticket

Defending men’s hockey premier league champions Butali Warriors are hopeful of retaining their title this season.

The Western Kenya-based side has no blip on its campaign this season whose first leg culminated in July.

The club has kept four clean sheets so far and registered a  6-2 win against Wazalendo to close their first leg on a high.

Butali Warriors are set to maintain their first leg momentum when the KHU Men’s Premier league matches continue.

Butali has not registered the result as a fluke, the team has signed talented players who have proved integral in their campaign.

Among the new signing is former Wazalendo defender Kennedy Mango, and forwards Festus Onyango and Dave Makori who have been signed from Strathmore University and Kenyatta University respectively.

Onyango has bagged four goals for his new team.

Butali captain Constance Wakhura, maintained the team’s goal is to defend their title as well as improve their level of the game.

“Every game we play is like a final because all the teams want to beat Butali’’, said Wakhura.

If the club retains its domestic crown, Butali will get the nod to represent Kenya at the Africa Club Championship due later this year.
