Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Friday’s session.

RTNPOWER(up 7.58%), Inox wind(up 5.36%), Jyoti Structures(up 5.00%), Suzlon Energy(up 3.07%), Hitachi Energy India(up 3.07%), Inox Wind Energy(up 2.85%), Energy Development Company(up 2.73%), K.P.I. Global Infras(up 2.30%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 1.03%) and Suzlon Energy-Partly Pd up Right Is(up 0.90%) stood among the top gainers.

CESC(down 6.84%), ADANIGREEN(down 5.00%), Adani Transmissions(down 4.99%), Adani Power(down 4.99%), Indowind Energy(down 3.10%), Karma Energy(down 2.69%), Orient Green Power Company(down 1.82%), JSW Energy(down 1.21%), Torrent Power(down 1.16%) and Voltamp Transformers(down 0.94%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 45.45 points down at 17465.8, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 141.87 points at 59463.93.

Divis Laboratories(up 1.46%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 1.28%), Asian Paints(up 1.2%), Coal India(up 1.0%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.93%), Bajaj Finserv(up 0.89%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.84%), Axis Bank(up 0.83%), NTPC(up 0.83%) and Reliance Industries(up 0.68%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hindalco Industries(down 4.86%), Adani Enterprises(down 4.85%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 2.57%), JSW Steel(down 2.32%), Tata Steel(down 2.05%), Tata Motors(down 1.26%), SBI Life(down 1.18%), Larsen & Toubro(down 1.16%), Eicher Motors(down 1.12%) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 0.94%) closed in the red.
