Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.45%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Tuesday.

Shares of TIINDIA(up 4.18 per cent), Ashok Leyland(up 3.01 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(up 1.53 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.97 per cent) and Tata Motors(up 0.66 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Balkrishna Industries(down 1.44 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 1.36 per cent), Eicher Motors(down 0.8 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 0.76 per cent) and Bharat Forge(down 0.71 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.45 per cent up at 12731.8.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 88.75 points at 17303.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 326.23 points at 58962.12.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 ended in the green, while 34 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Bank of Baroda, CG Power & Ind., Tata Steel and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Foseco India, Sonu Infratech Ltd., Triveni Turbine, Vera Synthetic and Abhishek Integrations Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Share India Sec, Krebs Biochem, Future Consumer, Kridhan Infra and Rollatainers Ltd hit their fresh 52-week lows.
