Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.31%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of Gland Pharma(up 3.51 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(up 2.14 per cent), Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals(up 1.27 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 0.99 per cent) and Lupin(up 0.71 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Cipla(down 4.61 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 2.98 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 2.36 per cent), Abbott India(down 1.81 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 1.18 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.31 per cent down at 11747.1.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 88.75 points at 17303.95, while the BSE Sensex stood down 326.23 points at 58962.12.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 ended in the green, while 34 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Bank of Baroda, CG Power & Ind., Tata Steel and Vodafone Idea were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Foseco India, Sonu Infratech Ltd., Triveni Turbine, Vera Synthetic and Abhishek Integrations Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Share India Sec, Krebs Biochem, Future Consumer, Kridhan Infra and Rollatainers Ltd hit their fresh 52-week lows.
