Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Tuesday’s session.

Shree Renuka Sugars(up 1.99%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(up 1.73%), Mawana Sugars(up 1.34%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(up 1.22%), KCP Sugar & Industries(up 1.06%), K.M.Sugar Mills(up 0.60%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 0.60%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 0.57%), BAJAJHIND(up 0.40%) and Simbhaoli Sugars(up 0.26%) stood among the top gainers.

Rana Sugars(down 2.33%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(down 1.67%), AVADHSUGAR(down 1.54%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(down 1.44%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 1.12%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 1.02%), Sakthi Sugars(down 1.00%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 0.75%), Ugar Sugar Works(down 0.72%) and Balrampur Chini Mills(down 0.53%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 88.75 points down at 17303.95, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 326.23 points at 58962.12.

Adani Enterprises(up 14.27%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 5.42%), Asian Paints(up 2.87%), Britannia Industries(up 1.67%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.39%), UltraTech Cement(up 1.04%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 0.97%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 0.7%), HDFC(up 0.67%) and Tata Motors(up 0.66%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Cipla(down 4.61%), Hindalco Industries(down 3.06%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 2.36%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 2.06%), Tata Steel(down 2.03%), UPL Ltd(down 1.99%), JSW Steel(down 1.95%), Reliance Industries(down 1.91%), Bajaj Finserv(down 1.66%) and ITC(down 1.44%) closed in the red.
