U.S. stocks ended mixed Wednesday as House lawmakers voted on whether to impeach President Donald Trump, a week before he is set to leave the White House. The S&P 500 rose 0.2% to end around 3,810. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell less than 0.1% to finish around 31,060, after briefly threatening to surpass its previous closing record of 31,097.97 set last Friday. The Nasdaq Composite gained 0.4% to finish near 13,129. The impeachment proceedings were not expected to upset the buoyant tone in broader markets, with investors mostly looking past the political turmoil in Washington. The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note tumbled 4.5 basis points to 1.09% after a strong bond auction.Market Pulse Stories are Rapid-fire, short news bursts on stocks and markets as they move.
