Before she could begin building wealth for herself and her two kids, Rita-Soledad Fernández Paulino had to let go of her “mom guilt.”

“You think, as a parent, you should be buying your child everything they like—everything that you never had,” Fernández Paulino recently told NextAdvisor. “And for a while, I fell into that. Until I realized, you know what would be really cool? If I gave my children the opportunity to inherit a casa. To go to school without any student loan debt.”

Now she’s part of a group of financial experts working to change the conversation around money, motherhood, and what it means to build true generational wealth. Fernández Paulino, Anna N’Jie-Knote, Shang Saavedra, and Dyana King are personal finance pros and coaches on a mission to help other mothers set up and enforce money boundaries; unwind familial money baggage; and become the compassionate CFOs of their families.

Mothers have had it tough during the pandemic, juggling work from home while caring for children amid reduced child care options. Others have had to leave the workforce altogether to take care of children and extended family members.

Register to join us on May 9 to listen to our panelists discuss how to cope with the challenges and opportunities facing moms in 2021 — and how to develop the tools of building and transferring generational wealth.

Meet our panelists:

Moderator: Jannese Torres-Rodriguez

Jannese Torres-Rodriguez is a nationally-acclaimed Latina money expert, educator, speaker, writer and business/wealth coach. She became an accidental entrepreneur after a job loss inspired her to create a successful Latin food blog, Delish D’Lites. Now, she helps her clients and listeners build successful online businesses that allow them to pursue financial independence and freedom. Jannese is on a mission to educate marginalized communities on topics like entrepreneurship, investing, and building generational wealth through her personal finance podcast, “Yo Quiero Dinero.”

Panelist: Anna N’Jie-Konte

Anna N’Jie-Knote is a passionate believer in the economic empowerment of women and minorities in America. She is the founder of Dare to Dream Financial Planning: a financial advisory firm for women of color on a path to build wealth and live abundantly. She is also the host of the “First-Gen Realness” podcast. She frequently speaks on the gender investing gap, the racial wealth gap, and investing. Anna is a native New Yorker and lover of everything related to food, Gambia, Puerto Rican history, and literature. When she doesn’t have her head buried in a spreadsheet, you can find her working out, re-reading literary classics or hanging with her husband and three daughters.

Panelist: Rita-Soledad Fernández Paulino

Rita-Soledad Fernández Paulino, creator of Wealth Para Todos, is a former math teacher turned personal finance enthusiast. While sick on medical leave in March 2019, she started to build her financial knowledge by reading books, listening to podcasts, and watching YouTube videos. Since then, Soledad has paid off over $20,000 in student loan debt, built a six-month emergency fund, maxed out multiple retirement accounts, and plans to retire by 47. Based in Los Angeles with her husband and two kids, she’s now working to become a certified financial planner to ensure more people of color and those who identify as LGTBQ can receive financial advice from someone who understands firsthand their unique money challenges and goals.

Panelist: Shang Saavedra

Shang Saavedra, personal finance influencer at Save My Cents, achieved enough wealth to become work-optional at age 31. She has a degree in economics from Harvard University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. From working on her own side hustles to developing consumer strategy for Fortune 500 companies, Shang has grown her income by multiples and her wealth into 7 figures. In 2021, Shang decided to take a step back from the rat race to focus more on her role as a mother. Shang’s mission through Save My Cents is to inspire thousands of Americans to manage personal finances with an abundance mindset, and live financially free.

Panelist: Dyana King

Dyana King, the creator of Money. Boss. Mama, is a “do-it-my-way” money mindset and budget coach who stumbled into the personal finance world after signing up for an auto loan that took one of her biweekly paychecks. After becoming debt free, she’s now on a mission to help other single women maximize their 9-5 income to get out of debt and build wealth using a “non-SlimFast” goal-based budget. Dyana is hell-bent on giving budgets a new reputation to entice women to take back control of their money by giving it a plan.
