Any talk about the 2022 quarterback movement is always going to include the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even if Ben Roethlisberger hadn’t reportedly started suggesting that this would be his last year with the franchise, all signs point to the end of the road being near as it pertains to Big Ben.

We’ve seen enough from both Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins (the latter with Washington) to know that the Steelers don’t have their viable replacement for Roethlisberger on the roster. That has led many people to suggest their options in the draft. But again, this is far from a loaded quarterback class and they may be better off looking at someone like Gardner Minshew.

Things could be better with the Steelers’ situation. They are likely set to lose some offensive weapons this offseason and still need to continue rebuilding the offensive line. However, this remains a well-run organization with a great infrastructure and still solid pieces that Minshew could help make the most of.

It might not be the sexiest option for the Steelers but, at the same time, taking a cheap option with more upside than anyone on the roster right now migh be a smart move for Pittsburgh.
