Plans unveiled for retirement home off The Homend in Ledbury

Plans have been unveiled for a proposed new retirement home in the centre of Ledbury.

A virtual consultation, which gives residents the chance to find out more about the plans and give feedback, has been launched.

Developer McCarthy Stone says it is committed to engaging with the local community and has held meetings with close neighbours of the site to discuss the initial proposals at an early stage.

The location of the proposed development

The land acquired by McCarthy Stone is opposite Knapp Lane and is bordered by homes in Newbury Park, Robinson’s Meadow, The Homend and Tesco.

McCarthy Stone says the development would be “sensitively designed” and include on-site parking and landscaped gardens.

The company’s Retirement Living developments also feature communal facilities including a residents’ lounge, mobility scooter charging and storage room, guest suite and lift access to all floors.

‘We want to hear local views’

Katie Fisher, divisional managing director Midlands at McCarthy Stone, said: “Our plans provide a fantastic opportunity to deliver much-needed retirement living accommodation in Ledbury.

“The site is ideally located for residents to access local shops and services, with a nearby train station providing transport links across the wider region.”

“We’re proposing a sensitive design that respects the character of the local area and we want to hear local views on our proposals before we finalise our planning application. I’d encourage people to go online and view the proposals, where they’ll be able to complete our online feedback form.”
