TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – 700 Tyler-area students filled the Brookshire Convention Center on Tuesday, turning the space into a mini Wall Street. The event was hosted by Junior Achievement of Tyler.

Students competed in teams for a stock market simulation, starting with $1 million. The team with the most at the end of one hour of trading was deemed the winner, with each minute simulating a full day of trading.

“That’s why it moves so fast,” said Melissa Shanhouse with Junior Achievement of Tyler, who emceed the event. “There’s so much competition screaming over everybody.”

The winning team from Tuesday will receive an expenses-paid trip to compete at Boston University in June.
