ANNAPOLIS — Maryland’s housing prices are too high, and many residents are leaving the state as a result, according to a new report from Comptroller Brooke E. Lierman’s office that highlights a state housing crisis.
“We found that Maryland was losing residents to states with lower costs of living from higher costs of living areas,” Lierman said in a phone interview. “The number one factor in the cost of living is housing, and so we’ve taken the past six months to meet with individuals, builders, developers, advocates, local elected officials and more around the state.”
