ED has come across violation of govt rules not only by Sandip Ghosh, but also his wife Sangeeta in acquiring property. The agency has traced seven properties of the couple, including one flat in Murshidabad, three in Kolkata, two houses in Kolkata and a two-storey bungalow on two-bigha land, named Sangita Sandip Villa, in Canning’s Narayanpur.
ED found that Sangeeta, while she was assistant professor at RG Kar, had bought two properties without proper approval from the state.According to Rule 15 (4) of West Bengal Govt Servants’ Conduct Rules, 1959, a govt servant must submit a declaration of movable and immovable properties he/she owns. A government employee has to declare the purchase of a property ahead of the transaction. However, Sangeeta did not follow the rules. TNN
