A Massachusetts man came forward on the first day of the month to claim a winning $1 million lottery ticket — and has big plans for his prize.

Bacilio Gomez, of New Bedford, claimed his $1 million ticket on Tuesday. He bought his winning “Jaws” ticket at M&M Convenience, which is located at 30 Rockdale Rd. in New Bedford. The shop will receive a $10,000 bonus.

Gomez chose to receive his prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes. He told the lottery he wants to buy a new house with his winnings.

There’s just one $1 million prize remaining to be claimed in the game as of Oct. 2. In addition, there’s one more Second Chance Drawing to be held to determine the final six “Jaws”-themed Martha’s Vineyard trip winners for the summer of 2025.

Trip winners are randomly chosen from non-winning scratch tickets entered into Second Chance drawings.

The Martha’s Vineyard trip winners will participate in a “Jaws”-themed game show while on the island, and one contestant will win a $1 million prize. All other players will win a prize ranging from $500 to $10,000.
