French company Tageos to invest $35M in new N. American headquarters in Fletcher

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, Gov. Roy Cooper announced high-tech French company is coming to Henderson County.

Tageos specializes in manufacturing radio frequency identification tags.

The company has opted to set up its first North American headquarters in Fletcher.

Brittney Brady, president of Partnership for Economic Development in Henderson County, said Tageos plans to invest $35 million into the community and will create 92 jobs.

She said Tageos coming to Henderson County signifies the county’s strong manufacturing and technical community, and that it shows the county has a skilled workforce.

The company will occupy the former Continental building.

“They’re breathing life back into an existing space, which means those employees and employees in the region can find strong jobs,” Brady said Thursday, Feb. 23.

Brady said the hope is that the headquarters will be in operation by late spring or early summer.

The plan was nicknamed “Project Expo” when Henderson County Commissioners approved $879,000 in incentives earlier this month.

The North Carolina One Fund is also pitching in $100,000.
