TV presenter Lorraine Kelly has been open and honest about her journey towards a healthier lifestyle in recent years. The “Queen of Daytime television”, 64, said she felt fed up, having gained weight during lockdown.
Lorraine joined WW, previously Weight Watchers, back in 2022. After just a few months on the plan she said she was “ready for anything”, and was able to fit back into her wedding dress from 30 years previously.
She has also praised a certain type of exercise class for helping her to shed the pounds. While in Spain on holiday, she told her many Instagram followers she had just been to a Zumba class. She said: “It was fantastic, but I’m absolutely sweating. It was so good though – I think you’ve got to do exercise that you really enjoy, and that was amazing”.
Discussing her “weight loss secrets” after shedding two stone, Lorraine previously told Hello! magazine: “When I was in Spain back at the start of the year just before joining WW, I really needed help to get fit again after piling on the pandemic pounds.
“I also don’t eat jumbo sized pizzas anymore! Nothing is off limits but a slice is more than enough these days. Using the WW app I can easily get the points value of every kind of food you can imagine, even in restaurants while on holiday.
“I’ve been drinking lots of water and sleeping really well too and my favourite thing is that there’s a WW community and we all support each other online. It’s all about feeling fit and healthy and I have so much more energy now and feel a lot more confident.”
Last year, Lorraine told the Independent she isn’t a fan of fad diets, and said: “I think it’s crazy in January all of a sudden to say, ‘I’m going for a 10-mile run’, or going on a stupid, faddy diet, because they don’t work. We know diets don’t work, you will lose weight, but you’ll just put it all back on again because it’s not sustainable.
“It’s great to have goals but make it realistic. Because so many people towards the end of [January] are just like, ‘Oh forget it’, and that’s sad.”
