Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Friday’s session.

Ponni Sugars(Erode)(up 2.60%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 1.78%), Simbhaoli Sugars(up 0.91%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 0.45%), Rana Sugars(up 0.22%) and Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 0.11%) stood among the top gainers.

K.M.Sugar Mills(down 3.00%), AVADHSUGAR(down 2.21%), BAJAJHIND(down 2.18%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 1.98%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(down 1.89%), Mawana Sugars(down 1.70%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 1.57%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(down 1.45%), KCP Sugar & Industries(down 1.34%) and Shree Renuka Sugars(down 1.15%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 91.65 points down at 17944.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 316.94 points at 61002.57.

Larsen & Toubro(up 2.21%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 1.84%), UltraTech Cement(up 1.76%), Asian Paints(up 0.99%), Coal India(up 0.95%), Grasim Industries(up 0.82%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 0.45%), Reliance Industries(up 0.42%), NTPC(up 0.39%) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 0.25%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 4.11%), Nestle India(down 3.1%), IndusInd Bank(down 2.93%), SBI Life(down 2.08%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 2.01%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.95%), State Bank of India(down 1.68%), HCL Technologies(down 1.65%), Divis Laboratories(down 1.63%) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.61%) closed in the red.
