Rochester, N.Y. — Open houses for three newly-built homes under the City of Rochester’s Buy The Block initiative took place on Sunday.

The program aims to boost homeownership by providing reasonably priced homes and ensuring that no buyer spends more than 30 % of their income on housing.

With 12 models available, Buy The Block constructs new homes on City-owned lots in historically under-invested areas.

These homes are then sold to pre-qualified first-time homebuyers.
