June Jobs Report: What to Expect

The latest employment data is expected to reveal slower job growth and a bump up in unemployment as Americans struggle to find jobs in a weak hiring environment.

Economists expect that employers added 115,000 jobs to payrolls last month, according to FactSet. The Bloomberg consensus estimate is slightly lower at 110,000. Both show slower growth than the 139,000 jobs added in May.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics is set to publish the monthly employment update for June on Thursday at 8:30 Eastern. Typically the agency publishes its employment report on the first Friday of every month, but has moved up publication in light of the holiday.
