Birmingham's cheapest areas to buy a home mapped – including postcode where 'houses cost £155k'

Birmingham’s cheapest and most expensive places to buy a home can now be revealed, according to a new interactive map. Across the city, the average house prices ranged from £155k to £471k for 2024 – and some areas had seen property costs plummet over the last year.

Aston was ranked the least expensive place to buy a home in the city, with properties in the B6 postcode said to have sold for an average of £155,531 each in the 12 months to the end of August.

That’s less than any postcode area in Birmingham – with at least 20 sales over the last year. Castle Vale, around five miles away from Aston, was dubbed the next cheapest place to buy, with houses selling for an average of £155,945 each in the B35 postcode area.

The housing estate, sandwiched between Erdington, Minworth and Castle Bromwich, also had the second highest decrease in property prices across Birmingham – with costs falling by 21 per cent over the last year.

The B19 area, Lozells, had the third lowest average for house prices, selling each for £165,577. You can find the average sale price for every postcode area in Birmingham and beyond using the interactive map below.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Edgbaston held the highest average sale price of any postcode area in Birmingham to have had at least 50 sales over the last 12 months. Houses sold for an average of £471,367 in the B15 postcode area.

The B74 area was the next most expensive place to buy a home in Birmingham. The average home in Four Oaks sold for an average of £451,534 last year. That’s followed by B72, Sutton Coldfield Town Centre, with an average home sold for £404,318. You can view all of the average house prices below.
