Patagonia faces housing crisis

With its charming downtown and quaint coffee shops and art galleries, with Western and artistic motifs, Patagonia offers visitors a unique vibe.

But in this nature’s outdoor paradise for bird lovers and bike-riders, some of the 900 locals fear that with the influx of workers from the nearby South32 Hermosa Mine, an existing scarcity of housing for families may worsen. They believe that the construction of a state-of-the-art mine will bring additional workers with big salaries who can not only pay for what little housing is left, but also drive rental prices higher.
