Digital technologies are now widely used to create new products and services for people and communities in all parts of the world. These innovations address critical needs in areas such as healthcare, access to finance, and career development. Navigating the Digital Economy: Insights from the Real World explores the ways digitalization can unlock opportunities through a series of real-world examples.

The paper accompanies the Digital Economy Navigator (DEN) project, a global assessment tool enabling countries to understand their level of digital economy maturity, find opportunities for growth and benchmark progress over time. The DEN study was developed by the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) in collaboration with global experts, and this paper was written by Newsweek Vantage in cooperation with the DCO.

By exploring current examples that demonstrate how medtech, fintech and social entrepreneurs around the world are using technology and connectivity to create user applications, we can understand their potential to transform lives. These ventures, and hundreds like them, are possible in places where internet access and a culture of innovation merge to create new, more efficient ways of doing things. They serve the overall goal of a world where all people have the enabling environment and support to prosper in the digital economy of today.
