An 88-acre property in eastern Lincoln County will soon be home to what is tentatively being called the “Lincoln Event Complex,” a project to expand and enhance program at Lincoln Charter School.
The facility in Iron Station could include a football stadium, pool, auditorium, athletic fields, tennis courts and more that will be open to the whole county, Lincoln Charter Chief Administrator Jonathan Bryant told The Charlotte Observer. The school did not give an address for the site.
Bryant said the goal is to enhance programs the school already offers, including football, which just wrapped up it’s inaugural season this year, as well as band, theater and other arts programs.

“I envision this feeling like a park,” Bryant said, adding that the project won’t just be for athletics. “Like a community park with trails. And some outside athletic facilities. It really will serve extracurricular activities across the board.”
“This is really intended to help our existing programs mature,” he added. “Hopefully we’ll be able to establish some good partnerships and make it all happen.”
The Foundation for Education, which owns the land at buildings that Lincoln Charter uses, received a $2 million grant from the state that the school is using to purchase the land, the Denver Citizen reported.
