The median price of homes sold in the United States spiked after the covid-19 pandemic upended life in the spring of 2020. Supply chain issues sent material costs soaring and cheap credit along with a mass migration of workers who could work from home and needed more space to accommodate home offices helped the value of properties to more than double in some places.
Things have calmed down since but the asking price for acquiring an abode can still be eye-watering as supply hasn’t been able to keep up with demand. However, there are alternatives available that can put a roof over your head for a modest amount of money like prefabricated homes.
These can be purchased online and be shipped to you. For example, Here is just one of a number of prefab houses available on the online retail giant Amazon’s website that sell for around $9,000 or less.
The $9,000 complete house you can buy on Amazon: this is what it looks like on the inside
It might not be especially spacious, but this “log cabin garden office studio” retails for $9,088 on Amazon. According to its product description it’s weatherproof, “using high-quality sealant strips to prevent wind and rain” from getting in. The wallboards are made from “high-quality rock wool sandwich panels” which provide insulation as well as fireproofing.
The “Foldable Prefab Luxury Villa” is made with alloy steel can be assembled in 10 minutes. And its “sturdy construction and modern features make it an ideal choice for different settings,” states the product description.
Its “compact yet functional design” offers features such as “a lockable door, outdoor storage, and a restroom & cabinet.” It can also be customized, but that may incur further costs.
It measures once fully assembled a little more than 19 feet in length, 8 feet wide and just under 8 feet tall.
At the moment, the house has no customer reviews on Amazon. Someone needs to take the leap, buy it, and let us know how it goes, just as these TikTokers did with another prefabricated Amazon house.
Before purchasing a prefab home keep this in mind
The only thing it appears that you cannot buy from the online retailer and have shipped to you is the land where you plan to park the portable home.
If you are thinking about getting one of these for yourself, it’s advisable to check the zoning laws and any permits that you may need in order to call one of these tiny homes your abode.
