Jim Gaffigan has struggled with his weight for most of his adult life, but it seems that his most recent 50-lb weight loss is going to stick. The comedian revealed earlier this month that he’s started using the weight loss drug Mounjaro, which is a prescription drug used to treat type 2 diabetes and help people lose weight. Jim Gaffigan Shows Off 50-lb Weight Loss
When the scale reached 270 pounds, Jim Gaffigan knew he had to do something different than he’s done before. In his twenties, he recalls working out “twice a day just to be thin,” and things only got worse as he aged. “As my metabolism slowed down, it became harder and harder, and then my knees started giving out, and then fatigue set in.”
So, at 58, Gaffigan was ready for something different, and his doctor suggested considering medication.”She was like, ‘Well, some people are against it.’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t care, I’ll try it,'” he recalled. “My knees hurt and my cholesterol was kind of not great.”

“I had very low expectations because I did know someone that had tried it and they were like, ‘Oh no, I was just nauseous for a week,'” Gaffigan explained. “And then I thought my true joy of eating would overpower anything.”

But his doubts were quickly swayed once he gave Mounjaro a try. “I feel good,” he told People ahead of the release of his new stand-up comedy special, “The Skinny,” which is premiering on November 22. “I’m just grateful because it’s such a better life.”
“And that’s some of why I wanted to talk about it,” he continued, “because I almost thought it was kind of odd that people were resistant to talking about it. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. There’s people walking around that obviously do not have blonde hair—yet they do. I don’t think that’s weird, either. It’s just whatever gets you through.”
