The S&P 500’s top seven gainers are all chip stocks, which are extending a nice bounce that started on Friday.
The biggest gainer is Broadcom’s stock, which was charging up 5.4%. The stock had gained 1.1% on Friday to snap a 3-day losing streak that started after it closed at a record $250 on Dec. 16.
And AMD’s stock was second best, rising 5%. It had edged up 0.3% on Friday after closing Thursday at a 1-year low.
The S&P 500’s most active stock with 103.4 million shares traded was also its sixth-best performer. Nvidia shares were tacking on 3% after surging 3.1% on Friday.
The S&P 500’s top-7 gainers were all components of the PHLX Semiconductor Index, which rallied 2.9% with 27 of its 30 components trading higher.
