But as truly said and believed, where there’s a will, there’s a way. Ruchi Sharma, a 26-year-old from Jammu, is living proof of this. Her massive weight loss journey not only transformed her body but also reshaped her life in ways she couldn’t imagine.

“Losing weight wasn’t easy for me, but I constantly pushed myself. I kept telling myself, ‘You can’t stop, no matter what happens.’ There were so many ups and downs, but I stayed focused and never gave up,” Ruchi says.

How Did It Begin?

For Ruchi, the motivation to begin her weight loss journey came from a deeply personal struggle. “After my C-section, I couldn’t hold my baby in my arms for more than five minutes because of severe cervical pain and backache,” she shares.

But it wasn’t just the physical challenges that took a toll on her. She also faced hurtful comments from people around her. “I was bullied because of my weight—even by friends and family. I loved dressing up, but I couldn’t find clothes in my size anymore. One day, my husband said, ‘Size badhaane ka nahi, chhota karna hoga (You need to reduce your size, not increase it).’ That moment was my wake-up call, and I decided to start my journey.”

From 105 Kg To 72 Kg In 6 Months

Ruchi began her weight loss journey at 105 kg. In just six months, she shed an impressive 33 kg, bringing her weight down to 72 kg. However, her journey is far from over, and she remains committed to reaching her ultimate goals.

“Balancing everything was the biggest challenge—taking care of the house, looking after my baby, and finding time for myself. There were times when my weight would get stuck, and that was so stressful. Giving up my favourite foods was hard too, but I stayed focused on my goals,” she shares.

No Exercise? No Problem!

One aspect of Ruchi’s journey is that she achieved her transformation without exercise. “Because of my C-section, I couldn’t do any exercise. I lost over 30 kg by following a calorie-deficit diet,” she explains. Diet plays a crucial role in weight loss, even when physical activity isn’t an option. While following a calorie-deficit diet, one should focus on balanced nutrition to avoid deficiencies. Prioritize whole, nutrient-dense foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats. Avoid excessively low-calorie intake, as it may lead to fatigue and muscle loss. Stay hydrated and include fibre-rich foods to promote satiety and digestion. Monitor portion sizes and track progress but avoid obsessing over the scale.

How Did You Stay Motivated Throughout Your Weight Loss Journey?

Staying motivated wasn’t always easy, but Ruchi found ways to keep her spirits high. “I was very clear about my weight loss goals, and that clarity kept me going. My husband was my biggest supporter. He stood by me throughout my journey, encouraging me every step of the way,” she says.

For Ruchi, her “why” was stronger than any obstacle. “I wanted to be a better version of myself—for my baby, my family, and me. That goal was my constant source of motivation.”

What Advice Do You Have For Others Who Are Looking To Embark On A Similar Transformation Journey?

Ruchi’s journey has taught her some invaluable lessons, which she is eager to share with others who are looking to transform their lives.

“How long will you keep saying, ‘I’ll start tomorrow’? Every tomorrow begins today. The time to start is now,” she advises. She focuses on taking the first step, no matter how small, and staying consistent in your efforts.

The changes Ruchi has experienced since her transformation are nothing short of life-changing. “I feel more confident, more active, and younger. Now, I can hold and rock my baby for hours without any discomfort. My health issues have vanished, and I’ve even started helping others transform their lives,” she says.
