Peter Kay's jokes about his weight loss as he's unrecognisable with new trim physique

Peter Kay made a series of weight loss gags before he was papped today showing off his major new look.

The much-loved stand-up star, 51, was almost unrecognisable as he was spotted on a stroll in London in an ultra rare sighting, showing off his trim figure, looking a world away from his days on TV hits, Max and Paddy and Car Share.

Peter, who is currently regaling fans with his Better Late Than Never tour following a 12-year-hiatus from the spotlight, is notoriously private about his personal life and has made no reference to his new look. However, he’s got a whole load of weight loss material, which he’s treated fans to over the years.

In 2020, the star jokes about going to Slimming World during his smash-hit gig at the Manchester Arena. Telling the audience he went to a meeting once, he says: “If you don’t know what Slimming World is, it’s like Weight Watchers, but a quid cheaper. I went once, Methodist Church Hall in Bolton, all the women were sat around in a semi circle.”

With his audience already in hysterics, Peter continued: “‘Big round of applause for Debbie, she’s lost a pound’. I said: ‘A pound? I s**t a pound, what’s that?'” One pound! Big deal!”

Elsewhere in the skit, the star tells the crowd that “Carole in the back”, who nearly had her “half-stone sticker” was “doing really well” until she succumbed to a fry-up after breaking one of her nails. With the crowd in stitches, Peter says: “Carol, take the ‘c’ off chips, what do you get? It’s up to you love, I can’t do it for you.”

In another weight loss gag, the star says there’s “always a diet going round work”. Explaining that the latest fad involves eating a “tub of beetroot” and “drinking your own p**s” because it “detoxes your body” he then staggers around the stage as ‘Tracy’ who lost “fourteen stone in a day” and subsequently ‘falls over her drip’.

Peter wowed fans with his remarkable weight loss, looking significantly slimmer at a 2023 stand-up show at the O2. The snap, in which the comic appears alongside musician Bryan Edery caused a stir online, to the point where some hardly recognised the Bolton-born star.

On tour, Peter humorously hinted his weight loss, remarking to the crowd: “See how much weight Peter Kay has lost.” Fans were quick to notice his transformation on Instagram, saying he looked much leaner than before. A wave of comments from shocked fans flooded in amid the star’s transformation.

“Amazing photo! How much weight has Peter lost?!” gushed one fan. Another added: “Wow you’ve lost weight, look brilliant” and a third shared: “Didn’t recognise him.”

Peter stepped back from the public eye after he cancelled his 2018 and 2019 tour, with the star pausing his career at the time and rarely being seen out and about. At the time of the cancellation, he said in a statement: “Due to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects. This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance For Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.” However, he’s now back for Better Late Than Never, with his next scheduled stop at Manchester on February 7.
