The FactSet consensus models $37.1 billion in revenue for Nvidia’s January quarter. But what sort of beat are investors looking for when it comes to Nvidia’s guidance?
The “whisper” number among buy-side investors is likely higher than the consensus view. Mizuho desk-based analyst Jordan Klein wrote earlier this week that the “whisper” figure is around $39 billion to $40 billion, meaning that the company’s outlook has to at least be $39 billion to satisfy investors, in his view.
He sees a higher bar for Nvidia with this upcoming report than the one the company faced three months back, when guidance beat expectations but not by the magnitude investors had come to know. This time around, Nvidia’s Blackwell ramp is starting, so expectations are high for sales of the new chip.
