Following the RBI’s unexpected jumbo 50 basis point rate cut, the BSE Sensex surged 747 points, or 0.92%, to close at 82,188, while the NSE Nifty climbed 252 points, or 1.02%, to settle at 25,003. Rate-sensitive sectors rebounded strongly after a weak opening.
Nifty Bank jumped nearly 1.5%, led by IDFC First Bank, AU Bank, and Axis Bank. Nifty Financial Services advanced 1.75% while Nifty Auto rose 1.5%. Nifty Realty was the standout performer, rallying 4.7%.
