Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: The Nifty 50 index heads into this truncated week on the back of successive weekly gains, but the second weekly advance was soured by the bears during the final trading session of the week. What the bulls would also not like is the fact that the Nifty slipped to the lows of the week on Friday and nearly closed at those levels, despite a weekly advance.

That 24,852 level will be key to watch for the Nifty on the downside ahead of today’s session, and a slip below that could bring the 20-DMA into play once again. On the upside, though, the index continues to find barriers at the 25,000 – 25,150 zones, which continues to be the key for further upside. This week, being a truncated one, is not short of action by any means.

The August 27 tariff deadline of US President Donald Trump looms over the market, and it is likely that the 50% tariffs threatened on India by the Trump administration would take effect on Wednesday, which happens to be a market holiday on account of Ganesh Chaturthi. There is also GDP data for the quarter to be reported, both in India and the US.
Stocks will react to the NSE indices rejig announced on Friday evening, particularly those on the Nifty 50, bringing IndiGo, Max Health, Hero MotoCorp and IndusInd Bank into focus. Also watch for shares of 10 companies whose lock-ins end this week.
