Wall Street Turns to Safety. Silver and Gold Are the Exception.

With the S&P 500 up 0.5%, the only major sectors on the rise were energy, utilities, and consumer staples. Real estate was flat. Tech and consumer discretionary were down 0.7% and 1.1%, respectively. Materials were the big laggard with a 1.2% drop.

The Nasdaq Composite was down 0.7%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 266 points, or 0.6%.
