Jobs data from September finally come out Thursday, delayed by the record-setting government shutdown. The numbers are being carefully watched because of the impact they could have on the Federal Reserve’s rate decision next month.
Economists expect the data to show modest gains in hiring. But without any big swings in unemployment or job growth, the September report probably won’t change much for policymakers.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics is set to release the September employment data on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. The report was originally scheduled for Oct. 3, but was postponed after the government shutdown started on Oct. 1.
