The 73rd session of the Baltimore City Council is history.

Council members held their final meeting of the year Monday night.

Council President Nick Mosby and members Eric Costello, Kristerfer Burnett, and Robert Stokes cast their final votes on the city council.

Their elected replacements will move in later this week.

“This has been a great run for me,” Councilman Robert Stokes said.

A recent Fox45 viewer poll showed 95% of respondents believed the new city council should focus on crime.

Education was the priority for 5% of viewers.

“It would be a mistake to rest on our laurels from the past two years,” returning Councilman Mark Conway said, crediting the city’s crime fighting strategies for a reduction in the city’s crime rate.

Councilwoman Odette Ramos believes the city must first solve its housing crisis.

“If we are eliminating vacant and abandoned houses, we are reducing crime,” Ramos said.

In question, however, is whether the city can continue to spend millions of dollars on its current crime fighting strategies.

“We know ARPA dollars are running out and obviously there has to be some kind of shift because the money is not going to continue to flow in the way it has in the past. So some of that strategy is going to have to change,” returning Councilman Isaac “Yitzy” Schleifer said.
