GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — The sale of a former Traverse City Area Public School property could finally be happening.

The sale of the Bertha Vos property was discussed at Monday night’s TCAPS school board meeting.

It’s a $550,000 cash offer with an agreement to demolish the former school building within five years.

Pending an environmental study, TCAPS could approve a buy-sell agreement.

The plan now is for the potential new owner of the property to leave it as a park.

“He basically can do what he wants. But once he’s torn the building down, he’s sitting on a piece of vacant land,” Commercial Real Estate Agent Scott Hardy said. “It doesn’t mean he can’t at some point in the future decide to build something or sell it. But whatever they do then has to adhere to whatever the zoning regulations are.”
