A Dallas investment firm that’s snatched hundreds of acres north of the city has made another land purchase.
Texas Republic Management purchased a 375-acre mixed-use tract along the planned Dallas North Tollway extension in Grayson County northwest of Gunter.
The tract was acquired from Midas Global Investments, led by Raj Kiran and Sudheer Babu Bagham. It was part of the larger Double Platinum Ranch, a 1,215-acre property just north of Kimberlin Road. Midas purchased the land in 2022 with plans for a future residential development.
Ben Weber, an oil and gas investor who established Texas Republic Management in 2015, did not disclose the purchase price to The Dallas Morning News. Caleb Lavey and Rex Glendenning with Frisco-based REX Real Estate handled negotiations for both parties.
Texas Republic Management has been active in the area in recent years. The firm recently closed on parcels at the planned Bryson Ranch and Cottonwood developments, Glendenning said.
The purchase adds to the firm’s growing Grayson County portfolio. Texas Republic Management said in a February news release that it had acquired over 700 acres in Grayson County.
The land company has invested in Collin, Grayson and Denton counties following the Dallas North Tollway and Preston Road. The company buys the properties in partnerships with plans to resell the land to homebuilders and developers.
Weber is optimistic about the region’s future, citing Texas Instruments’ multi-billion dollar chip plant investment in Sherman and the planned Margaritaville resort along Lake Texoma.
“That corridor is something that we just think is very special for the future growth of North Texas,” Weber said. “We think the future for that area is bright.”
