- An elderly man who lived in a Kakamega village shared that his wife and children took off after poverty became too much to bear
- According to the elderly man, his wife got married to another man while his children went to stay in towns and forgot all about him
- Although it started as a social test to see if the old man could still share the little he has, Kenyans decided to build a house for him, buy him a cow and ultimately start a chicken business for him
An elderly man has broken many hearts on social media platforms after he shared that he lives alone after his children left him all love because of poverty.
Why was the man living alone in Kakamega?
Mzee was just minding his business outside his humble abode with large, gaping holes in the wall when Apostle Dan Wema visited him. Despite being poor and only having a small amount of flour in a blue paper bag, the old man did not have a problem sharing it with the man of God.
“My kids ran away to go live in the towns and I am have been left all alone,” he said.
Once the photos and video circulated online, people started feeling sorry for the old man as he was looking dishevelled apart from urgently needing somewhere to stay.
“Please let us build a house for this man. Send any amount, just sacrifice for the sake of this mzee. If 500 people send KSh 200 we will have KSh 100,000. You can send more if you want,” he said.
Wema told TUKO.co.ke that Kenyans are now planning to buy a cow the man as well as chicken that can bring him some income.
