Mass. State Lottery winner: With $1M prize, couple plans to buy new home

A Massachusetts couple’s house hunt just became easier after the husband won $1 million playing the lottery.

John Swan, of Greenfield, won $1 million from the “$1,000,000 Merry & Bright” scratch ticket game. The holiday game costs $5 per ticket to play, and there’s just one $1 million prize remaining as of Dec. 19.

Swan and his wife, Tracy, claimed their prize on opted to receive the prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes. Swan told the lottery he wants to buy a new house with his prize.

The Greenfield man bought the winning ticket at Orange General Store, located at 217 E Main St. in Orange. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
