Resi roundup: NBA All Star, music producer buy, sell South Florida homes

The latest roundup of South Florida residential deals included a former All Star point guard and a music producer buying and selling homes across the tri-county region.

Deals spanned Southwest Ranches to Juno Beach and ranged in price from $7.8 million to $10 million.

Southwest Ranches

In Southwest Ranches, former basketball star John Wall bought a mansion for $9.8 million.

Records show Wall bought the house at 16745 Berkshire Court from Ernesto and Michelle Martinez. 

Wall played in the National Basketball Association from 2010 until 2023 as a point guard for the Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers. He was a five-time NBA All Star over the course of his career. 

Ernesto Martinez is an insurance broker and head of Martinez Insurance Group, the parent company of Sunrise-based Assurean. The couple bought the mansion for $3 million in 2008, property records show. Built on 2.3 acres in 2008, the 9,600-square-foot mansion has seven bathrooms, seven bedrooms, one half-bathroom, a pool and a sport court, records and the listing show. 

It hit the market for $10.5 million last year, according to Realtor.com.

Ben Moss of Compass had the listing, and Cassandra Montgomery of CassMont Realty brought the buyer.

Palm Beach

In Palm Beach, the heirs of a real estate investor sold their family’s longtime home for $7.9 million in an off-market deal.

Records show Philip Cardinale, Alan Cardinale, Adelina Catalano and Louise Cardinale-Busch sold the house at 235 Ocean Terrace to Gary Smith. Smith also owns the home at 232 Angler Avenue in Palm Beach, which he bought for $3.6 million in 2019, according to property records.

The Cardinales’ late father, Alerio Cardinale, was a real estate investor and attorney, and died in 2020. He and his wife, Flory Cardinale, bought the Ocean Terrace home for $695,000 in 1999, records show. Built on a quarter acre in 1956, the house spans 2,700 square feet, with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, one half-bathroom and a pool, according to property records. 

Juno Beach

In Juno Beach, German music producer Dirk Ulrich sold an oceanfront home for $10 million.

Ulrich sold the house at 708 Ocean Drive to Marta Gutierrez, according to property records. Ulrich is a frequent investor in Palm Beach County properties, and in 2022 flipped an oceanfront Jupiter home for $15 million

He bought the Juno Beach house for $8 million that same year, according to property records. Built in 1993 on half an acre, the 3,800-square-foot home has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a pool, records show. Ulrich renovated the house, and listed it for $13 million in January, according to Realtor.com.

Rob Thomson of Waterfront Properties & Club Communities had the listing, and Heidi Brzyski with Douglas Elliman brought the buyer.
