Matthew Golden is expected to learn his new team on Thursday night. All signs point to Golden being a first-round NFL Draft pick, which will result in the former Texas wide receiver being well compensated for his first few professional seasons.
Ahead of the draft, Golden revealed his top priority once he signs his rookie contract. Golden wants to buy his family’s old house for his grandmother.
“We lost our property a couple of years ago,” Golden told On3’s Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman. “You know, that’s somewhere I grew up when I was younger. It’d be a blessing to get that back for my family. That’s where they all grew up. That’s where I grew up.
“Always told myself I wanted to do that. Now I’m in a position to do it. If it’s bound to happen, I’m going to make it happen.”
Expect Golden to move quickly once he has inked his rookie deal.
“It’s literally for sale right now,” Golden explained. “I go back to look at it every time. I actually had a camp last week for some kids back at home…I drive down that road. That’s where I grew up.”
Golden may not have to wait too long on Thursday night to learn his new team. Numerous final mock drafts have him going No. 12 to the Dallas Cowboys.
We’ll see how things play out Thursday night at Lambeau Field. Round 1 is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET.
