Charlotte Nichols has said the plans announced in the Government’s Spending Review will “give families the suitable home they deserve.”
She said: “It feels like we have been living in a housing crisis for years, and little has improved.
“Something needs to change.”
150,000 children are in temporary accommodation and nearly 1.3 million households are on national social housing waiting lists in the last year.
In Warrington alone, there are more than 8,000 applicants on the waiting list to be rehoused, with more than 600 in urgent need.
Miss Nichols added: “Since I was elected in 2019, hundreds of my constituents have written to me to report living in sub-standard homes, overcrowded properties or to report that they have nowhere to live at all.”
Rents have increased by 8.6 per cent in the last year.
