VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A Daytona Beach man was arrested last week as part of a “large-scale mortgage fraud scheme” out of Volusia County, according to the sheriff’s office.
In a release, deputies said that the man — identified as “fake real estate investor” Christopher Musick, 57 — would create fake documents to pose as the owner of several different business properties.

“Then, he’d get mortgages against those properties, use the money to buy more of them, rent them out, pocket the money, and never pay off his loans,” the release reads.
Investigators also showed that Musick had a mat by his door with a phrase reading, “Come back with a warrant.”
“We came back with a warrant,” deputies said.
Jail records reveal that Musick was ultimately taken into custody on Nov. 25.
He now faces charges of organized scheme to defraud, grand theft over $100,000, and forgery. His total bond amounts to $225,000.
Musick also has 10 prior felony convictions and two outstanding warrants out of Maryland, investigators noted.
“After interviewing Musick, VSO Financial Crimes Unit detectives established probable cause to execute a search warrant at his residence, thereby satisfying the doormat’s request,” the release concludes.
