American Express, UnitedHealth share gains contribute to Dow's 189-point climb

Behind strong returns for shares of American Express and UnitedHealth, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up Thursday afternoon. The Dow DJIA is trading 189 points higher (0.6%), as shares of American Express AXP and UnitedHealth UNH are contributing to the index’s intraday rally. American Express’s shares have gained $4.09 (2.6%) while those of UnitedHealth are up $11.07, or 2.3%, combining for a roughly 100-point bump for the Dow. Caterpillar CAT, Visa V, and Boeing BA are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any of the Dow’s 30 components equates to a 6.59-point swing.
