Former Big Brother star Narinder Kaur was rushed to hospital after taking an overdose of a controversial weight loss drug she bought online.

The 52-year-old, who shot to fame in 2001 when she landed a spot in the Big Brother house alongside Brian Dowling and Helen Adams, confessed she was left in agony when she began injecting the weight loss drug Wegovy. Narinder obtained the medication online, after she was told by doctors she wasn’t eligible for it on the NHS, and sadly admitted that her weight loss journey was almost fatal.

The TV personality spoke about her harrowing experience, as she revealed it was bullying from online trolls that sparked her determination to use the weight loss drug. Narinder recalled trying a number of diets over the years, but it was Wegoovy that gave her results almost instantly. The drug is prescribed by doctors in England to manage obesity, and the injection – which contains semaglutide – helps to regulate appetite by sending signals to the brain. It also reduces blood sugar in the body, as semaglutide is also used to treat type-2 diabetes.

Narinder told The Sun she resorted to buying Wegovy online, and she confessed purchasing the medication “without any professional medical guidance” was “the biggest mistake ever”. She sadly added: “I put my life at risk.” The former reality star said once the medication arrived, she decided to double her dose after feeling “no effects” following her first injection. Narinder stressed she hadn’t consulted a doctor about her decision, and ignored safety warnings that suggest people slowly increase the dosage to give their body time to adjust.

Shortly after her second injection, she became violently ill, and ended up bed-bound for three days as she couldn’t walk. “By day three, I really thought I was going to die. It had been 72 hours and I still hadn’t managed a sip of water. I felt so weak I could hardly sit up or talk at all, and my hands felt floppy,” Narinder explained.

She was taken to hospital, and the TV star was told she would have to wait for the drug to work its way through her system before she would start to feel better. Narinder admitted her own vanity almost killed her, and urged others to make better choices when it came to using weight loss drugs without medical advice. Now, she’s ditched the medication and is fighting fit thanks to a more traditional method of losing weight. “It’s back to eating less and exercising more. I nearly died of stupidity,” she fumed.
