Even though comedian Jim Gaffigan has lost 50 pounds and dropped two pants sizes — there are still some things he can’t seem to let go of from his old life.
In a recent interview with Men’s Health to discuss his new Hulu special, “The Skinny,” Gaffigan divulged why he still keeps his “fat clothes.”

“Maybe I’m a pack rat, but I’m like, ‘I can’t get rid of that.’ And then there is something about the haunting,” he explained. “They’re like, ‘You’re going to wear me again.’”
The best-selling author also opened up about always being a “compulsive eater.”
“The whole concept of eating healthy and living healthy is very foreign to me. Like, it took a while for me to kind of climb on board that,” the comedian said.
Gaffigan said he enlisted the help of the drug Mounjaro — an injectable medication used to treat Type 2 diabetes that can also help people to lose weight.
“Most of our lives we’ve been told, ‘Just control your appetite. Just stop being a f**king pig.’ The reality is, we can’t. Maybe our brains are a little wonky or whatever. I think that in some ways, the appetite suppressants are this justification for people who have compulsive eating, that they’re not weak— that some of it can be fixed,” Gaffigan said.

Along with being prescribed this medication, Gaffigan also picked up a new hobby: gardening.
“Growing vegetables makes you more interested in consuming those vegetables, which makes you healthier, which makes you kind of look at what you’re consuming, which makes fast food look like the crap that it is,” Gaffigan said of eating a more balanced diet.
In a Nov. 14 interview with People, Gaffigan said “he’s not trying to lose more weight and has yet to decide how long he will continue taking Mounjaro.”
