Kendrick Perkins knows a thing or two about being overweight.
“Big Perk” played at a listed weight of 270 pounds during his NBA career and has recently made comments about taking Ozempic, which can be used for weight loss, in relation to the Boston Cetlic’s offense. He joked that watching the Celtics made him feel like he had taken an Ozempic shot, implying that it made him feel sick or nauseous.
Now Perkins, the ESPN NBA analyst, has a weight-loss suggestion for Knicks’ center and New Jersey native Karl-Anthony Towns.
“Karl-Anthony Towns, if I was you, I’d go lose me about 15 pounds,” Perkins said on Perk Unplugged. “You get 15 pounds off of you, bro, and you stay consistent… It’s going to be smoke. Boy, you going to be ready. I’m telling y’all, man. I’m looking forward.”
The 7-foot Towns played at a listed weight of 248 pounds last year with the Knicks, and was listed at 250 during his one-and-done year at Kentucky before becoming the No. 1 overall NBA Draft pick in 2015.
Still, Perkins believes Towns could optimize his defense under new coach Mike Brown if he sheds some weight.
Towns is coming off an All-Star season in which he was named to the All-NBA Third Team and averaged 24.4 points and 12.8 rebounds.
He and the Knicks reached the Eastern Cponference Finals for the first time in 25 years before losing to the Indiana Pacers.
