Lizzo showed off her impressive weight loss while walking the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, May 5.
The “Truth Hurts” singer, 37, stunned in a black and white Christian Siriano gown with flawless makeup while attending the event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. She completed her chic look with a voluminous blonde ‘do, diamond earrings, long stiletto nails and a vintage extendable cigarette holder.
“Met… here I come!” she captioned a video posing in front of a backdrop prior to her arrival.
Lizzo is no stranger to the Met Gala, as she has previously attended the event in 2019, 2022 and 2024. She’s never been afraid to take risks with her fashion, and she faced backlash for the botanical sculptural gown and towering corset headpiece by Victor Weinsanto that she wore to the 2024 event.

After fans took to social media to slam the outfit, Lizzo defended her ensemble in an Instagram message. “If I’m not in your best dressed, you’re fatphobic,” she wrote via Instagram alongside several photos of her on the red carpet.
Shortly after she uploaded the post last year, several fans rushed to the comments section to defend her. “Lizzo, you looked beautiful and nailed the theme. The world will always have haters and trolls. They aren’t worth your time and energy, even though I know it’s a sucker punch to the self esteem,” one person wrote in the comments section. “Keep up the things that keep you mentally happy with you so you can be your best self. And don’t feel you have to follow every fashion trend.”
Lizzo has been open about her weight loss ever since she began her health journey in 2023, and she’s continued to document the process by sharing photos of herself on social media and discussing how she has achieved her new physique.
During a TikTok Live video posted on April 22, Lizzo revealed that she avoids consuming “sugary stuff” in the early hours of her day and instead eats “super savory” foods.
“I do something sweet. It’s gotta be with some sort of like carb. I’ll have like almond butter and toast. So, everybody’s body is different. Find out what works for you,” Lizzo added of her diet.
The “Good as Hell” singer added that she the most consistent way for her to lose weight is by being aware of the “calories in versus calories out.”
She then opened up about her old diet, explaining that she used to drink between “two to three” large Starbucks drinks a day that sometimes added up to 1,200 calories. Lizzo shared that cutting coffee out of her diet helped to “regulate her nervous system.”
Not only did Lizzo change her diet and fitness regimen to drop the weight, but she added that her struggles with anxiety have played a major factor in her health.
“I’ve been working to get my anxiety under control for years. And then I decided that I want to release and I’m ready to stop waiting to be myself, like fully, and be happy,” she told her fans in the video. “And I meditated. I calmed myself down. And I isolated a little bit, but not like made myself lonely, not the way I used to when I was depressed. I isolated myself in a mindful way where I had no distractions.”
She candidly continued, “I loved to distract myself with people. I loved to distract myself with food. I loved to distract myself with drinking. I loved to distract myself with problems that I would create. I would love to do that. And I stopped doing that. And I just focused on me.”
