Welcome back, everyone! It’s been a few weeks since my last article about losing weight through the MacroFactor App and honestly, it’s because I didn’t really have a ton to talk about.
In Volume 1 of his series, ‘Here’s How I’ve Lost 30 Pounds Since January,’ I mainly discussed the MacroFactor App itself and what led me to it. There was more of that in Volume 2 and in the 3rd article I dove into the the ins and outs of what I’d been eating and what I had been doing for exercise, but then I hit a wall on what to discuss with you all… until today.

As a quick refresher: back in January I was 195 pounds, overweight, and in need of a change. I was already exercising a lot but simply couldn’t lose weight, or so I thought. My friend Prasad turned me onto the MacroFactor App which is a calorie-tracking app with an advanced algorithm tailored specifically to you and your goals. Since then, I’ve made it down to 158.5 pounds as of this morning, all fat lost, while continuing to gain muscle from resistance training regularly.
MacroFactor App + Social Support = Guarantee Success
That picture at the top of this article is me last year on the left and me this week on the right, on top of the same mountain with my dog. Would you be surprised to learn the hike was considerably easier this year when I was 40+ pounds lighter than where I was at that point last Summer?! Shocker, I know.
Compared to last year I feel a thousand times better and that’s a result of eating cleaner, losing weight through a precisely tracked caloric deficit with the MacroFactor App, and the confidence and physical fitness that comes along with all of that. According to my Apple Watch, I am averaging 1h21min of exercise a day, my v02 Max is up to 45.2 which is considered ‘excellent’ for my age, and every day I realize more and more I did not get here alone.
Collaboration And Accountability
MacroFactor
Everyone reading this knows there are times in the gym you need a spotter. That type of collaboration is inherent to the weight lifting experience on certain exercises and in specific situations.
But what about when you are sitting around at 2pm in the afternoon thinking about what you want to do for dinner? What about at 6am on a Tuesday morning when your alarm goes off and you are contemplating hitting the ‘snooze’ button and going to back to sleep while telling yourself you’ll go work out later (you won’t)?

I could sit here and list out these scenarios we all face every day but what I’m getting to here is that first and foremost, you should be accountable to yourself, but also having a solid social support system in your weight loss journey will inevitably lead to better results than if you go at this entirely alone.
I certainly don’t want to be the person posting selfies from the gym every morning on IG Stories or bragging about every single pound I lose but receiving positive feedback on my progress is great. It feels good knowing our hard work is paying off and we can see that as our waistline begins to shrink and our jawline becomes more pronounced as the fat disappears but having an accountability partner throughout all of this will take you so, so far.
The MacroFactor App community is incredible. There’s a very active r/MacroFactor subreddit where everyone is constantly sharing their gains, asking questions about the app, sharing recipes with optimized macros, discussing progress and if they should continue cutting or go for maintenance or bulking.
Similarly, MacroFactor has a very active Facebook group. The developers behind the MacroFactor App are all active both on the Facebook group and the Subreddit and are quick to answer questions from their user base. It really is an active and thriving community of people like myself who set out to get healthier in our own ways.

So that’s one way I’ve found social support while losing 35+ pounds since January 30th but really the most support I’ve found is at home and through texting with my best friends. Having a constant dialog with someone in your life, being clear about what your goals are and why, will take you further than you could ever imagine.
MacroFactor tells me how many calories, grams of protein, fat, and carbohydrates to eat each day in order to lose 1lb of fat each week through a daily caloric deficit of 500kcal by constantly tracking my TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) and updating that accordingly as my weight drops and my rate of weight loss shifts.

Where to go from here with MacroFactor

Straight forward from here, this is what I suggest: download the MacroFactor App. Start logging your daily meals, everything you eat, and weigh yourself each morning. You will lose weight if you follow the app’s recommendations. That part is just science. It’ll happen.
The first week on the app is a free trial so you can see whether or not it’s for you (it is). If you use the promo code ‘BroBible’ you will receive a second free week. The app is $5.99/mo but you’ll get the free week with my promo code, which I only sought out because this app has been so transformative in my life, and here’s what you will receive within the app:
MacroFactor
Once you set yourself up on the app, text your best friend/your partner/wife/husband/girlfriend/brother/whoever and let them know what you’re doing. Keep yourself accountable. Talk about your wins with them as you begin to lose weight. Be proud of your gains.
I hit 10 personal bests this morning at the gym in a circuit of 12 different exercises. It is entirely possible to be gaining muscle while in a caloric deficit and I know that because I’m proof of it. And once you get set up on the app, go check out the subreddit and the Facebook page linked above. You will be amazed by how much positive feedback is out there from other MFers (MacroFactor users).
I’ll see you back here next week for Volume 5. where I will talk about plateaus and ‘stalls’ while losing weight and just keeping the course!
