Oprah Winfrey recently had a deep conversation about GLP-1s, obesity, and her new healthy habits in life.
The 71-year-old American talk show host, television producer, actress, author, and media proprietor gave an interview to PEOPLE magazine via Zoom from her hotel room in Australia.
With a bare face and in comfy loungewear, Winfrey revealed what she has for breakfast nowadays: “I’ve just had a croissant. And I ate the full thing.”
She went on to share that she would fixate on a buttery indulgence all day in the recent past.
The Color Purple star explained, “I would have been thinking, ‘How many calories in that croissant? How long is it going to take me to work it off? If I have the croissant, I won’t be able to have dinner.’ I’d still be thinking about that damn croissant!”
However, while chatting with the outlet, Winfrey felt unbothered as she quipped, “I felt nothing. The only thing I thought was, ‘I need to clean up these crumbs.’”
Notably, giving less importance to her breakfast is a significant change for her, which came after she started using a GLP-1 weight-loss medication two and a half years ago.
The Charlotte’s Web alum began taking weight-loss medicine because she had realized she was suffering from obesity and she could not overcome it without external help.
“I thought it was about discipline and willpower. But I stopped blaming myself,” and after losing considerable weight, she noted, “I feel more alive and more vibrant than I’ve ever been.”
It is pertinent to mention that Enough: Your Health, Your Weight and What It’s Like to Be Free, a book by obesity expert Dr. Ania M. Jastreboff and Oprah Winfrey, which is about her struggle with obesity, will be out on January 13, 2026.
