Remi Bader is still adjusting to life two years after her weight loss surgery.

“I struggle eating every day,” Bader, 30, shared on the Monday, December 1, episode of “The Toast” podcast. “I forget that you can’t have water and food in between 30 minutes for the rest of your life and I’ll be unwell. There’s just a lot to learn and I’m still figuring that out.”

In December 2023, the influencer opted for a procedure called the single anastomosis duodenal-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S), which connects the stomach to the lower small intestine. According to the Mayo Clinic, this ensures “less time and distance for the body to absorb fat and calories.”

While Bader told host Claudia Oshry that she feels better and healthier after the surgery, there are still things she struggles with.

“I still feel like my brain is still fat …and I kind of feel like I’ll always feel that way, and I’m very confused,” she said, noting in the interview that she’s a size 10. “My sizing has changed significantly, but then I also lost more weight than I wanted to. I was upset that I lost more weight than I wanted, but I didn’t have that decision based on once you get a surgery.”

Before surgery, Bader said she was experiencing back and knee pain. While those symptoms have improved, there are still things that “you have to do for the rest of your life that you don’t think about in the moment.”

When looking at her career, Bader admitted that she “definitely” gets invited to more things that she wasn’t welcome to prior her surgery.

Instead of saying yes to everything, however, the TikTok creator tries to pick and choose what speaks to her values.

“I definitely will say no to a lot of things in terms of fashion because I’m like, that makes me feel more bad for the other girly, ‘Remi-before,’” she explained. “I actually remember me and Khloé [Kardashian] spoke about that too, because she was just like, ‘Oh, the people that want to invite me now that never did that invited Kim [Kardashian] and stuff before, like, screw them. I feel the same way on that.”

This isn’t the first time Bader has been open about the ups and downs of her weight loss surgery.

In a March interview with Self, the content creator admitted she still faces some insecurities about her body.

“I’m still uncomfortable. I’ve never looked like this. I’ve never felt this way. I’ve never been this size,” Bader told the publication.  “So when people comment now, ‘Tiny, skinny. Oh my God, your legs, your arms, this, this,’ that’s really triggering for me.”

Bader also told Self that her binge eating has gotten better, partly because she speaks to a therapist who specializes in eating disorders.

“I’m probably the only person that’s ever gone to a doctor for weight loss to be like, ‘OK, but can I still be curvy?’” she recalled. “It’s really confusing to be so quickly in a different body but have the exact same brain.”
