More than 200 Genesee County residents received free brain health services, including advanced blood biomarker testing for early Alzheimer’s detection, at Insight Flint on Saturday.

The community event aimed to assist those with memory concerns in beginning their brain health journey.

Participants received a cognitive screening, blood biomarker test, and if needed, a telehealth consultation at no cost. Board certified neurologists were also on site. These tests can detect the signs of memory disorders and are valued at $499.

Neurogen Biomarking, a leader in Alzheimer’s detection and care, sponsored the event.

“We found out about the program on the news but it’s part of our health program,” said Jesse Dawkins. He and his wife, Phyllis, traveled from Saginaw for the tests. Jesse continued, “We’re both healthy but we like to do pre-screenings and checks, and take our vitamins and try to live healthy. This is just another process in the health plan.”

The initiative focuses on expanding access to comprehensive testing and supporting early Alzheimer’s detection.

There is another free testing event for adults age 50+ on July 12 in Coldwater, Michigan. You must register to attend and testing is limited to 250 people.
